Recruitment

Panhellenic Recruitment is a process where active members of each chapter meets potential new members (PNMs). During this period, PNMs have the chance to learn about each of the chapters, their philanthropies, their values and benefits afforded by Greek affiliation.

At URochester, primary recruitment takes place at the beginning of the Spring semester. All Panhellenic chapters participate and the PNMs have the opportunity to meet active members when they visit all six Panhellenic sororities. Through a process of mutual selection, students narrow their choices at the end of each day. At the end of primary recruitment, bids to chapters are extended at the Bid Day celebration.

Each PNM will be assigned a recruitment counselor who will help answer their questions throughout the process as well as give unbiased advice on how to decide between and consider sororities.

Continuous Open Bidding (COB)

Continuous Open Bidding, also known as COB, is different from primary recruitment. COB is an informal recruitment process that Panhellenic sororities use to recruit new members outside of the designated primary recruitment period to reach Panhellenic Total. Some chapters host COB events while some prefer to have 1:1 meetings with Potential New Members. There's no guarantee that a chapter will be eligible to take new members.
